Chapter 2: Charles Augustus Milverton
This chapter talked about a blackmailer who had already ruined many people’s life’s and weddings. One day, a young lady contacted Holmes to go and negotiate with Milverton, thing that went badly wrong, because Milverton was waiting for a big price of seven thousand for one letter and wasn’t accepting changes.
There was no deal, it was the seven thousand or nothing, besides, he didn’t care if the consequences created a divorce or not, all he wanted was money. Holmes couldn’t deal a lower price with Milverton, so he decides to steal the letters her customer was so worried about. Holmes and his partner got customized and at midnight, they sneaked into Milverton’s house, where he kept all the letter in a safe. Holmes bought his instruments so he could open the safe…Once he made it, Milverton walked into the room and then a young lady came into the room at the same time, who was very mad and sad because the letter he blackmailed his husband made him die.
So it was the young lady’s time to do justice on her own hand. They had a very short conversation and then, the young lady showed a gun and shot Milverton right in the head.
Holmes and his partner waited for the young lady to leave the room, so they could steel the letter his customer wanted and escaped carefully from Milverton’s house. They sneaked out, but a short group of people got to see them. Obviously they were customized, but the danger wasn’t absent. The next day, someone contacted Holmes to help him with the murder of Milverton. Thing Holmes didn’t accept, because it was very dangerous for him, because he knew someone saw him and could get to think he was the murder.
When the detective leaves Holmes and his partner alone, Holmes shows a photo of the young lady w
ho killed Milverton yesterday. It was their secret, and they would keep it for the rest of their lives.
